The West Jordan Historical Museum news

We wish to thank all of our volunteers for their hard work at the West Jordan Historical Museum this past month. Much has been accomplished and our museum grounds have never looked better. Within the next few weeks our research library in the basement will be up and running as the painting project is almost complete. We are looking for help with our water heater in the basement. It exploded on us a while back and we are looking for funds to purchase and install another one. The hood for our blacksmith forge is almost is in its final stage of completion and will be installed shortly. A recent Eagle Scout project in the blacksmith barn has been completed. The entire ceiling of the barn was painted and we will be installing a new lighting system. Two other Eagle Scout projects are in progress, one to bring electricity to the Cottage Inn and one to provide a cover for our electrical box in front of the museum house.

We are asking the community for help on the Cottage Inn. We need two cement stoops/steps and a curved sidewalk added to the cottage. If you have own a cement company, are experienced in concrete forms, or would like to make a cash or materials donation to help complete this please project, please get in touch with us with the phone number listed below. We have installed the doors and screen doors on the Cottage Inn and are currently working on the windows and inside electrical. Any help will be greatly appreciated. The Cottage Inn was on e of West Jordan’s first soda fountains/general stores.

Please note, the West Jordan Historical Museum’s 3rd Annual ‘Pumpkin Walk’ will be held during the third week of October. If you have an organization, or as an individual would like to help with the event running a booth or would like helping out in other areas, please give us a call.

We thank the community for their continuing support of the museum by their donations and volunteerism. We welcome those who are interested in being part of our museum board or would like to serve on committees and help preserve our West Jordan Heritage. We are also looking for family histories, Utah historical books and old West Jordan photos that can be placed in our new research library when it is completed. Please call Robert or Linda Dalley at 255-3116. The museum is located at 2053 west 7800 south on the north side of the West Jordan Main Park. We are opened Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays or by appointment. The museum and grounds are also available for parties, reunions, wedding receptions and more. Please drop by!
